Dandelions

I don’t know if I ever really thought about having a theme to carry through the wedding but when I started looking for invitations I kind of just fell into one that I thought completely embodied not just the wedding setting but us as people.
Dandelions!
According to Wikki, dandelions stand for wishes coming true; It is also symbolize Oracle of Time and Love, faithfulness and happiness.
To me they also symbolize going out to start your own future and family. The individual seeds leave the parent plant to find a home of their own to grown and produce their own seeds.

Patrick and I have started to do just that when we decided to move our life across the country to Texas, away from everyone one we know and love. We planted our roots and bought a house that may be a little big for us now but know that it has room to grow our family.

So now I find myself trying to find ways of carrying this throughout this special event. It starts off with the introduction through the save-the-dates and the wedding invitations. I found them on … you guessed it, Etsy. They are by Designs By Adj. She is wonderful to work with and was beyond helpful when it came to customizing them to match the colors. She even mailed out samples so I could see what it would actually look like before I ordered them. I just love the delicate details of the dandelion seeds!

I was also thinking about having her make us a digital monogram that included the dandelions that the DJ could project onto the dance floor; as well as menu cards and seating cards. This is all extra money but if she made digital files and I printed them myself it would save us in money.

Then I came across this flower in a wedding magazine called Alliums. They look like giant purple dandelions! How fantastic is that?! I couldn’t believe that something like this existed! I knew I had to have them in the centerpieces on the table and that is exactly what I plan on doing. If you remember from my previous post about décor I wanted to do wheatgrass centerpieces with flowers sticking up from the grass.
These are exactly what I want to use. The only problem is they are a little hard to come by. I have emailed my florist about her maybe selling me them in bulk since I am a little worried about getting them shipped in bulked. I know there is a possibility of them being a bit pricey but considering we are making the centerpieces our selves I think it will be worth it.

I also found this fantastic clutch on Etsy that I can’t stop looking at. It's by BagatellesAndCo on Etsy and it is not cheap to say the least, especially for a clutch but I can’t find anything even close to it. I should have asked for it as a Christmas present, now that would have been the smart thing and wouldn’t have gone into the budget. This is something I will continue to ponder about for another 2 months lol.

I also found this cute tote that I thought about using as part of the bridesmaid gifts and still might. It's made by CreativeJenV.
There are so many things that can be done. I thought about getting little personalized dandelion stickers to stick on our favors. I’m really hoping there will be real dandelions in the field by the time of the wedding. I read online that they start to pop up in the spring and continue to till the fall. When I was on my 3 mile jog yesterday I saw some on people lawns and I was so excited!!! Yes this is Texas but that give me hope that there will be dandelions in late May!

I also wanted to use a picture for people to sign instead of having a guest book. I mean how many people actually go through their guest book. NO ONE! Seriously it is a waste of money. But my FI's brother and wife mounted a picture of them on some matte board and had people sign that. They now have it framed and hanging in their living room which I think is an adorable idea. Except i was thinking about using a dandelion photo or print. I found this one on Etsy that is by far my favorite dandelion print. It's beautiful and the artist said they would be able to make a 16x20 for me if I wanted.by StephsShoes

I wonder if she knew that I was planning on having people sign their names all over it she would be mad? I also know someone who takes amazing pictures and asked him if he had any of dandelions. We have a couple pictures of his already so it would be nice to use something of his. I use to be really into photography and minored in it in college and might have one I took myself but I don't know if the negative would be in good condition anymore.

I also found these gorgeous tags that I could maybe use as the place cards or to tie around the favors instead of stickers.
